You lose your sense of self and, worse, your sanity as a result of this mental training state, which is like swallowing a bitter pill. Anyone can get tense just thinking about it. The proactive ones, it is said, are already living on the edge.
I know what it's like to be stressed out, and trust me, there are a lot of different types of stress. Protect yourself by limiting your interactions with those who exhibit signs of stress. Or, if you feel like it, act as a stress-reduction specialist and teach them self-management techniques.
Learn from the best
Who remains composed when everyone else is going crazy? What distinguishes them? How do they feel? Which language do they speak? Do they have experience and training?
Determine it remotely or have a conversation with them. Take advice from the top stress-reduction experts and emulate their methods.
Practice socially acceptable heavy breathing
I learned this from a gym instructor: By using deep breathing, you can fool your body into relaxing. Take a slow breath in for seven counts, and then exhale for eleven. Continue using the 7-11 breathing technique until your heart rate decreases, your sweaty palms stop, and everything begins to feel more normal.
Give stressy thoughts the red light
You might get yourself caught up in a knot of worry on your own. "If this happens, then that might happen and then we're all up the creek!" Worrying needlessly is a waste of energy because most of these things never happen.
Stop stress-related thought patterns in their tracks by giving them the red light. Alright, so what can you do to avoid that and how probable is it that it will go wrong?
Know your trigger points and hot spots
Meetings, presentations, interviews, providing challenging criticism, and strict deadlines. Just writing these down is making my heart rate rise!
Create your own list of hot spots or stressors. Give specifics. Are you just agitated by presentations made to a particular audience? Are any projects that are more stressful than others? Have you consumed too much coffee?
Being aware of your stressors is empowering because it allows you to take steps to reduce them. Do you need to pick up any new abilities? Do you require additional resources? Is switching to decaf necessary?
Burn the candle at one end
Our bodies and minds suffer greatly when we don't get enough sleep, eat poorly, or exercise. It's kind of obvious, but since it's frequently disregarded as a stress-reduction strategy, it's worth mentioning. Don't burn the candle at both ends and pay attention to your mother!
Therefore, even while stress might be a huge pain, it shouldn't stop us from achieving the inner peace of mind we've long desired. Anyway, a trip to the Bahamas to enjoy the summer heat is always an option.
